Getting to school or college

Picture of traffic lights on greenAre you a student at a sixth form or college in Norfolk? If you are, Norfolk County Council can help you pay for public transport.

What help you can get

You can get a reduced-price travel pass if you're a post-16 student. This costs £318 for the year. If your family is getting a certain type of benefit (such as income support, or income-based jobseeker's allowance) you can get a pass half-price, or £159 for the year.

Do you qualify for help?

To qualify you have to be

  • living in Norfolk
  • studying for more than 16 hours a week
  • living 3 miles or more from your sixth form or college
  • 18 or under on 31st August of the year your course starts. (If you have a learning difficulty or disability, the age is raised to 20 or under.)

People doing apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships don't get help with their transport from Norfolk County Council.

How to apply

Remember – don't wait to get your results before applying for your travel pass! You can apply as early as April each year.
