Why work for free?!
Volunteering isn't pointless just because you don't get paid. Volunteers can
- meet new people and try new things
- learn new skills
- get a qualification
- build up your confidence
- get experience and a reference for your CV
- make a difference to other people's lives.
There's so many benefits to volunteering – and it should be fun as well!
What to expect
- You won't make any money from volunteering, but you should be paid expenses, such as your travel costs.
- You should have a clear idea what you'll be doing before you agree to do it!
- Someone should give you training and support while you're volunteering.
What you can do
There's loads of opportunities for young people to volunteer. There's something you can do whatever skills and experience you have. There's no age limit to volunteering, but if you're under 16 there's a few opportunities you won't be able to take (usually for insurance reasons).
